This set of resources includes 1x ppt, 4x word files and can be delivered over 2-3 lessons and introduces learners to the importance of business planning. We start by looking at what’s included in a business plan and the purpose of creating one, a group matching cards activity to consolidate the contents of the business plan. This is consolidated with activities. Students then have the opportunity to develop a business plan, a template is provided which can be shared with them on the computers. Extra structure for this activity can be given with the different businesses provided so students have a particular focus. a 12 mark question on business planning, with structure guidance and a concise model answer is provided. OCR CTEC Business Unit 1 The business environment - LO7 Sources of finance (part 2)

This set of resources includes 2x ppts, 3 words files and can be delivered over 3-4 lessons. Learners are introduced to ways of raising capital from within and outside the business. We look at the various types of finance (for this spec) with their pros and cons. We then look at a concise case study of a firm that requires capital but wants to only use internal finance - a 12 mark question on this with structure guidance and a concise model answer for students to use when peer assessing. A peer assessment grid and how it is used by examiners is provided for students to make improves on WWW and EBI. We then go on to consolidating the knowledge with some matching and recall activities before a group activity, students are put into groups and given scenarios that require finance, students decide which sources of finance are most appropriate for scenario and present ideas back to class. Class then decides who the weakest link is (encouraging application and evaluation skills) A case study and 12 mark question on venture capital is included, structure guidance and a concise model answer is provided to help students develop their exam technique. A link to a kahoot quiz and box plenary to finish off with. I have found this to be a very engaging set of lessons personally. Thank you

A task for Eastenders fan to create an income statement for Ian Beale’s fish & chip shop, figures are given and students are to build the income statement. We start by looking at factors when assessing a country as a market, we look at each factor with some data then go on to looking at factors to consider when assessing as a production location (some of the factors come under both topics). A short case study on Slovakia’s government incentive of a flat tax which attracted many producers to relocate there, a 4 mark model answer for students to self assess with. 3.7.2 Analysing the existing internal position: financial ratio analysis - AQA A Level Business

This set of resources includes 3x PPTs which can be delivered over 4 lessons (over 100 slides of engaging and interactive learning) and 5x word files consisting of calculation practice questions and a group ratio analysis activity. We start by looking at how financial statements can help stakeholders make decisions before going into the four categories of ratio analysis (profitability, liquidity, gearing and efficiency ratios). In the first double lesson we focus on profitability and liquidity ratios. ROCE is looked at with broken down examples before recapping the GP and NP margin from Year 1 (so ALL ratios are covered). We then look at the current ratio and although the acid test ratio is not required in the AQA spec, students do have the opportunity to understand it here as it can help with evaluation arguments e.g. stock is not a very liquid asset all the time. In the third lesson we focus on gearing, again with broken downe examples and the interpretation of the figures, finally in the last lesson we focus on efficiency ratios of payables days, receivables days and inventory turnover. Lots of calculation practice in this bundle, two companies, JD and Royal Mail where students have the opportunity to carry out ratio analysis, research tasks, true or false questions, debates, kahoot quizzes and box plenaries included. We start by looking at the PESTLE factors and what they include, we then look at Porter’s five forces before reading a case study on Morrison’s and the top four supermarkets in the UK. A 10 mark question with structure guidance and a concise model answer is included for students to look at and improve their own answers after peer assessments. To consolidate the PESTLE factors we read a concise fact file on the housing market, students use this information and their own research to find out more about the housing market, and then feedback the PESTLE factors they think are impacting on the housing market.
